Our history

  • Les Grandes Blanchisseries de Pantin

    1883: Origins

    The Leducq family found the Grandes Blanchisseries de Pantin.

  • Les premiers collaborateurs Elis

    Elis is created

    The Group modernises and consolidates its business lines into the company Europe Linge Service (Elis).

  • Les camions Elis Europe Linge Service

    1973-2001: Expansion

    Elis becomes an international company by acquiring businesses in Belgium and Spain in 1973 and then Portugal and Germany between 1987 and 1990, followed by Luxembourg in 1994, Italy in 1999 and Switzerland in 2001.

    1999: Diversification

    Elis’s bespoke solutions extend to water coolers and coffee machines, then to cleanroom supplies in 2001 with the acquisition of Ivry, a cleaning and disinfection company.

  • Des camions Lavotel

    2010: International expansion

    Elis becomes established in Brazil and continues to expand in Switzerland with the purchase of Lavotel, followed by another six targeted acquisitions between 2010 and 2013.

    2014: Expansion in Brazil

    The Group increases acquisitions in Brazil: Atmosfera, the first Brazilian industrial laundries group, followed by the brand Clara and the company L’Acqua.

  • Elis entre en Bourse sur le marché réglementé d'Euronext

    2015: IPO

    Elis is listed on the Euronext regulated stock exchange in Paris in February 2015 and continues expansion in South America by purchasing the Chilean market leader Albia.

  • Le centre Indusal en Colombie

    2016: Entering the Colombian market

    The Group acquires Indusal in Spain and becomes established in Colombia with the acquisition of SIL.

    2017: Scaling up

    The Group undertakes a capital increase of EUR 352 million and becomes a pan-European leader with the acquisition of its British competitor Berendsen.

    2018: New slogan

    Elis strengthens its brand identity with the new slogan “We empower your day”, with full attention and constant dedication to meet the needs of our customers and guarantee their professional success.

    2018: LiveDemo roll out

    After a successful trial on mats in France in 2017, our innovative sales support tool featuring augmented reality is rolled out to all Elis products and services.

  • Les commerciaux Elis recevant leur certificat

    2018: Launch of the Sales Academy

    Elis develops a continuous training tool for sales representatives to help them build skills throughout their careers and take advantage of opportunities to progress.

    2018-2019: New acquisitions

    Elis continues to strengthen its position in its existing geographic regions with more acquisitions, including in Spain and Germany.
